Our second album Svefns og vöku skil, which translates to "the boundary between sleep and waking," was written over a period of two years. During this time the sound of Árstíðir matured from its homegrown roots, featuring broad, lush string arrangements and revealing a more experimental side of the band. 

The album was recorded in Studio Hljóðriti in June and July 2011 with Styrmir Hauksson as engineer, and was produced by Ólafur Arnalds and mastered in Berlin by Nils Frahm.
